The Church of God at Christopher, Illinois seeks a gifted Lead Pastor to direct a relauch venture. There is a debt-free church building and parsonage waiting to be utilized. The sanctuary seats approximately 120 people and the church includes nursery, childrens, office and fellowship areas. Christopher is a southern Illinois town located 20 miles northeast of Carbondale, IL, home of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Christopher (Franklin County, 40,000 population) has a population around of around 3,000 people, and is just outside the larger town of Benton (population of 7,300). The population is generationally diverse with 21.8% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 24.2% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 21.5% who were 65 years of age or older.
A qualified candidate will be bivocational, self-motivated and able to build a church congregation from the ground up. The only compensation will be the parsonage. While the properties are debt-free, the utilities and operational expenses will be the responsibility of the local church. The pastor of the Christopher Church will be provided with the support of the District Overseer, as well as the State Administrative Bishop, which includes a coaching network directed specifically for small church pastors.
